QEEG-Guided Bio-Neurofeedback for First Responders and Military Professionals

Series 19

Webinar

June 30, 2023
12-1pm ET

During this presentation we will be discussing how a team of providers and myself have successfully designed and implemented a process via which service members in the military can attain and maintain high levels of overall wellness (e.g., near optimal levels of nutrition and exercise; improved sleep quality & neuro-endocrine balance) and peak cognitive performance. The latter component (i.e., peak cognitive performance) was what I was charged with. What that meant was taking what other providers collected and integrating that information into a practical, customized, yet holistic training plan, and then implementing said plan. These training plans usually involved one or more of the following components as indicated by the service member’s needs: BFB including NFB training, neuromodulation techniques, mindfulness, and mental skills training. Finally, the most impressive aspect of this whole process is it that I designed it to be implemented at scale.

  • Describe how utilizing holistic training with the Military population allows them to attain and maintain high levels of overall wellness
  • Explain which metrics are involved in QEEG assessments and Bio/Neurofeedback training
  • List techniques used to assist the optimal performance of Military personnel

Presenter

Manuel "Dominic" Halter, PhD, JD, MA, QEEGD, BCN

Dr. Halter is an experienced neuroscience researcher and have worked with the U.S. military as well as universities to develop cutting edge assessment and training programs in cognitive neuroscience and human performance. Since 1998, he has provided undergraduate and graduate level instruction in qualitative and quantitative statistics and research methods in psychology and human performance departments. His research includes, but is not limited to, work in the areas of attitude measurement, employee cognitive performance assessment and training, leadership development, organizational development, intelligence assessment, personality assessment, neuropsychology assessment, as well as psychometric testing. Since 2016, He has conducted biofeedback, neurofeedback, electroencephalography (EEG), and quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) training courses, he has also provided repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), audio/visual entrainment (AVE), transcranial direct stimulation (tDCS), and other forms of neuromodulation treatment services to Special Operations Forces (SOF) veterans. Currently, He is working with InMindOut Emotional Wellness Center, LLC as an Educational Instructor for their didactic courses regarding Biofeedback, Neurofeedback, and QEEG. They create content and teach professionals about this amazing technology and how to use with clients. He is a Green Beret and a retired member of the U.S. Army’s Special Forces. After Dr. Halter retired from the Army, He continued his education and completed his degree of Doctor of Philosophy with a specialization in talent performance optimization. Dr. Halter also hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Developmental Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Neuropsychology. His passion is not just for healing the body and mind, but also optimizing physical and cognitive performance, which has been the driving force in my pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the human brain and psychophysiological processes. His goal is to make a difference in the neuro-field by spreading the knowledge he has, as well as continuing his research in optimal cognitive performance.
