12-1 pm ET

You’ve no doubt heard about alpha-theta neurotherapy in your neurofeedback training but you might still be wondering how it can augment your current therapies. Or maybe you’re wondering even how to implement it effectively or what exactly it’s for. If so, this webinar is for you. We will explore how alpha-theta neurotherapy may be a great tool in your therapeutic toolbox, and take a look at its applications – from optimal performance to trauma and beyond. Learners will get an overview of the therapy and understand how it contrasts (and integrates) with other neurotherapies.

Presenter

Linda Walker, PhD, LPC

From the moment Dr. Walker completed college (the first time) with a degree in journalism, she felt a deep drive to be part of the solution to the challenges she saw in the world. However, writing alone didn’t feel like enough. That search for greater impact led her to pursue a master’s degree in human relations and counseling at the University of Oklahoma, launching her career as a helping professional in the mid-1990s. Along the way, she expanded her expertise with post-graduate certificates in addiction studies and school counseling, ultimately earning a doctorate in psychology with an emphasis in psychophysiology from Saybrook University. In the early years of her career, Dr. Walker dedicated herself to helping adults with developmental disabilities find ways to live independently and experience life to the fullest. Over the years, she has had the privilege of working with individuals from all walks of life—people striving to regain balance, enhance well-being, and optimize function. Her journey has taken her through roles in community mental health, juvenile justice, private practice, and corporate health. Dr. Walker first integrated neurofeedback and biofeedback into her practice in 2000 while working at a residential treatment facility for juvenile delinquents. Around the same time, she began incorporating qEEG assessments. The young people she worked with had faced immense challenges—trauma, mental health and behavioral conditions, learning disorders, substance use issues, post-concussive injuries, and toxic chemical exposures—often all at once. Many had cycled through countless medications and therapies without success. She began asking herself: What more could be done to truly help these young individuals build a better future? The answer came through neurofeedback and biofeedback. By incorporating a structured curriculum into the residential program, remarkable changes were observed—fewer restraint interventions, reduced medication use, and students proudly making the honor roll for the first time. These improvements were carefully documented and tracked, yet despite the success, the economic downturn led to the program’s closure in 2010.
